Kia

The Kia EV9, already a popular family-sized electric SUV, is receiving a major power bump with the upcoming launch of the EV9 GT. This high-performance version, according to Kia’s CEO, is slated for a January 2025 debut and promises plenty of power and an exciting driving experience.

The secret of the EV9 GT lies in its dual-motor setup, pushing the boundaries of Kia EV power and delivering blistering acceleration of 0-62 mph in just 4 seconds. Kia has reinforced the suspension and equipped an advanced electronic braking system for better stability and control at higher speeds to cope with the heightened performance.

Kia's engineers seem to be trying to infuse the EV9 GT with the spirit of a muscle car while retaining the model's practical SUV dimensions. However, its substantial size and weight make this performance EV an intriguing feat for the automaker. Expect the EV9 GT to sport a more aggressive design than standard EV9 models, possibly with unique wheels, styling details, and other performance-oriented cues.

The EV9 GT is the latest entry into an expanding line of high-performance, "GT"-badged EVs from the Korean automaker. It follows the path blazed by the EV6 GT, which currently spearheads the Kia EV performance lineup. With this lineage, enthusiasts can rest assured that the EV9 GT won't just be about straight-line speed. Kia has emphasized that their GT models prioritize driving dynamics, handling, and overall driving fun.

2025 will be a significant year for Kia's electrification strategy. The EV9 GT isn't the only exciting EV fans can anticipate. A facelifted EV6 is scheduled in late 2024, likely bringing visual and technical updates, while an updated EV6 GT may follow in its footsteps.

Although pricing for the EV9 GT has yet to be released, expect a premium over the current range-topping EV9 GT-Line's starting price of around $56,000 in the United States. Its official launch date of January 2025 gives potential buyers some time to save up for this exciting EV.
