Kia is working on an electric pickup truck for North America

Kia

Kia is working on an electric pickup truck for the American market. The company confirmed the move during its CEO Investor Day Event earlier today.

The truck will use a new EV platform that will be "designed for both urban and outdoor use". Kia wants to sell 90,000 units of this truck every year in the US market, which is more than double what Ford currently manages with its F-150 Lightning.

To achieve that impressive goal, Kia's truck will obviously have to be much cheaper, and in order for it to be cheaper it could also be smaller. That said, this is just speculation on our part, as Kia hasn't spoken about how it wants to reach its sales goal specifically.

The company did however say that the truck will have best-in-class interior and cargo space and a "robust towing system", along with advanced infotainment features and off-road abilities.

Unfortunately, Kia didn't say when this truck will hit the North American market. It's definitely not going to be soon, however, as it seems like it's still just more of an idea and less of an actual product at this stage.
