Mercedes-AMG is now testing its upcoming SUV in winter conditions

Mercedes AMG

Mercedes-AMG is currently very busy working on two EVs, a four-door coupe and an SUV, both built on its AMG.EA performance platform. The former started its winter testing in Sweden back in March, and the SUV is now joining it.

What you see below is an official image, straight from Mercedes-AMG, of its upcoming SUV. It's still got a heavy coat of camo at this stage, and for some reason it's driving the wrong way (it's supposed to be in Sweden, remember, and the country switched to driving on the right side back in 1967).

Cold weather testing "is an important milestone in the development process" according to Mercedes-AMG, with tests being performed both on public roads as well as specialist facilities. Northern Sweden is just the first stop, with the SUV undergoing "demanding tests" near the Arctic Circle at temperatures below freezing, which will test the interaction of all components very thoroughly.

The new SUV comes with "a new high-performance battery concept", whatever that means, and it "showcases the pioneering role of the high-performance drive in the innovative all-electric architecture", whatever that means. Finally, in case you were wondering, Mercedes-AMG really did share just one single picture of the SUV.
