Avatr

The Avatr 06 is a mid-size electric sedan developed as a collaboration between Changan, Huawei, and CATL. It will be available in both battery-electric and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions.

The Avatr 06 has a sleek and modern design featuring twin LED running lights, a closed-off front end, and a prominent active air intake in the front bumper. Cameras replace traditional side-view mirrors, while retractable door handles also help aerodynamic efficiency. The rear is characterized by the glass roof stretching all the way to the trunk, a ducktail spoiler, and two thin tail lights.

Inside, we find Huawei's Harmony OS and the car will also come equipped with the Huawei Qiankun advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS).

The Avatr 06 is built on the CHN platform, a dedicated EV architecture jointly developed by Changan, Huawei, and CATL. The same platform is used by the Avatr 11 SUV, the Avatr 12, and the Avatr 07 crossover.

While detailed specifications for the Avatr 06's powertrain have yet to be released, it will likely mirror the system found in the recently launched Avatr 07 crossover. If this is the case, the BEV version will offer a rear-wheel-drive variant with 338 horsepower and an all-wheel-drive variant with 590 horsepower. A single 82-kWh LFP battery is expected, providing a range of up to 404 miles based on the notoriously optimistic CLTC standard.

The EREV variant is also expected to offer both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, with 310 horsepower and 485 horsepower, respectively. A 39-kWh Freevoy LFP battery will be paired with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine acting as a generator. This setup is projected to deliver an electric-only range of up to 143 miles and a combined range of up to 684 miles, according to the CLTC standard.

The new electric sedan from Avatr measures 191.1 inches/77.2 inches/57.1 inches, with a wheelbase of 115.7 inches. This makes it slightly shorter and wider than the Zeekr 007. Originally planned for launch in the fourth quarter of 2024, the Avatr 06 is now more likely to hit the market in early 2025.
