Xiaomi

Xiaomi will have at least two dual-motor AWD versions of its YU7 SUV when it comes out around the middle of the year. One of them was certified by the Chinese authorities earlier, with its front motor developing 220kW (295 hp) of power and the rear one going to 288kW (386 hp).

Today, a new filing with the Chinese regulator reveals another dual-motor AWD option with less power: 130kW (174 hp) at the front and 235kW (315 hp) at the rear.

The motors are supplied by Inovance Automotive and United Automotive Electronic Systems. The LFP battery comes from FinDreams, BYD's battery division. The new variant weighs 5,346 lb and has a top speed of 149 mph.

The two AWD options will also be joined by a single RWD version with a rear-mounted motor that develops 235kW (315 hp) of power (and is looking like it's the exact same unit that's in the rear of the AWD model that was listed today).

The YU7 will be Xiaomi's second EV, following the wildly successful SU7 launched last year, of which the company has already managed to deliver more than 150,000 units. Xiaomi's delivery goal for this year is an ambitious 300,000, and the YU7 with its oh-so-in-demand SUV shape will undoubtedly help in reaching that.
