Hyundai

Hyundai made the much anticipated Ioniq 5 N 'hot hatch' official back in July, and today the company is introducing the upcoming EV for the North American market. Speaking of which - it will be available at dealers in the US starting in March 2024. Note, however, that we're talking "limited quantities at select dealers in select states only", unfortunately.

Aside from the release time frame, Hyundai has also re-shared some of the car's specs. The Ioniq 5 N comes with dual motors making 478 kW (641 hp) with "N Grin Boost" engaged. It uses a two-stage inverter and a new 84 kWh battery. 0 to 60 mph takes 3.25 seconds, and the top speed is electronically limited to 162 mph.

Unfortunately Hyundai is keeping any EPA range estimates to itself, only promising that these would be "confirmed closer to vehicle launch". The Ioniq 5 N will be available in the US in Performance Blue Matte, Abyss Black Pearl, Atlas White, and Soultronic Orange Pearl, with Ecotronic Gray Matte joining them at some later point.

If the Ioniq 5 N is successful, we're sure that Hyundai will be interested in making N versions of all of its EVs, and truth be told - we can't wait.

José Muñoz, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor North America, said:

Hyundai N is a key driver of advanced technology expansion throughout Hyundai. N brand technology and motorsport success proves Hyundai’s ability to push the envelope of vehicle performance and Ioniq 5 N represents a bold move forward in the level of electrified performance. We are confident that both current Hyundai customers and new buyers will be impressed with the exceptional performance and technology of our new Ioniq 5 N.
