Audi EV deliveries surge in Q1

Audi

Audi is finding a bright spot in the growing demand for its electric cars. The company's overall vehicle deliveries saw a slight dip in the first quarter of 2025, but sales of its EVs surged by an impressive 30% compared to the same period last year.

The first three months of 2025 saw Audi deliver 46,371 electric cars worldwide. France saw a remarkable 169% increase in Audi EV deliveries, followed by Switzerland at 120%, the Netherlands at 87%, Norway at 64%, and Audi's home market of Germany at 59%. This new-found enthusiasm for electric vehicles helped offset a slight overall decrease in deliveries for the Audi brand, which totaled 383,401 vehicles, a 3.4% drop compared to the first quarter of 2024.

Audi EV deliveries surge amidst shifting markets

Overall deliveries in Western Europe (excluding Germany) experienced a minor 3 percent decline, but the delivery of fully electric cars in the region jumped by 50.4%, reaching over 25,129 units. Germany also showed a positive trend, with overall deliveries increasing by 4.8% to 48,447 vehicles, including 8,640 EVs. The 2025 has started rather well for Audi - the company achieved its best-ever first-quarter delivery figures in Poland, Austria, and Croatia across all vehicle types.

The positive momentum in electric car demand is clearly visible in the 86% increase in incoming orders for fully electric models in Western Europe. Across all types of vehicles, incoming orders in the region rose by 22 percent compared to the previous year. Audi CEO Gernot Döllner believes this growth proves that the company's recent model initiatives are beginning to have a tangible impact.

Audi EV deliveries surge amidst shifting markets

On the global stage, Audi sales haven't been going all that well. North America (excluding Mexico) saw a slight 2.1% decrease in deliveries to 48,599 vehicles, primarily due to model transitions. China presented a more challenging market with a 7.0% drop in deliveries, totaling 144,471 vehicles. Intense local competition is cited as the main reason. Audi is focusing on rapidly expanding its electric vehicle portfolio in China, developing market-specific models, and strengthening local partnerships. A key highlight was the unveiling of the A6L e-tron at Auto Shanghai 2025 and the introduction of the AUDI E5 Sportback, the first production model from Audi's new electric-focused sister brand.

Despite the mixed global delivery figures, Audi Group's overall revenue for the first quarter of 2025 reached $17.12 billion, a 12.4% increase compared to the previous year. The Audi Group's operating profit also saw an increase to $596 million, resulting in an operating margin of 3.5 percent. Net cash flow stood at negative $68 million, but this was a big improvement compared to the previous year.
