Lucid

The Lucid Air Grand Touring has just been awarded an official Guinness World Record for range, after having been driven from St. Moritz in Switzerland to Munich in Germany on one charge.

That's a distance of 749 miles, during which the 112 kWh battery didn't need a recharge. Lucid has celebrated the record on its social media profiles as you can see below.

Lucid set another @GWR title for the history books.

Together with @Umit_Sabanci, we have officially set a new Guinness World Records title for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge. The Lucid Air Grand Touring covered an astonishing 1,205 kilometers (~ 749… pic.twitter.com/2LeayLnjgc

Of course, the brand doesn't tell us anything about the speed at which the car was driven, which is the most important detail. So we should all assume it wasn't going at very high speeds throughout the "alpine climbs", but there was a section of Autobahn in Germany, so it would be interesting to hear about the speed there at least.

Alas, we probably won't. While this is nothing but a PR stunt at the end of the day, it does prove that the Lucid Air is very efficient - and the big battery definitely helps with range too. Just don't expect to reach 749 miles on one charge unless you're doing it on purpose.

If you're interested in a more realistic range test, don't miss ours.
