The new electric Mercedes C-Class brings luxury performance that outruns the competition

Mercedes-Benz wants everyone to know it is serious about electric cars. Its latest move is the all-new electric Mercedes C-Class, known for a very long time as the "entry-level" luxury car for the brand. Now, it is growing up. The company revealed the new model on Monday, and it is a fast machine that promises to drive further than almost any other car in its class.

The most impressive part of this new EV is the distance it can cover. The C 400 4MATIC gets a large 94 kWh battery and Mercedes says it can travel 473 miles on a single charge - about the distance from Berlin to Paris. If you are in a hurry, you do not have to wait long at a charging station. Using a high-power charger, you can add 202 miles of range in only 10 minutes.

Looking at the car, you will notice it has a very smooth shape. This is not just for style - the new C-Class has a drag coefficient of 0.22. This number tells us how easily the car moves through the air and a lower number means the car is more slippery. Mercedes claims that even a tiny improvement in air resistance helps electric cars go much further on the highway. It also features a new front grille with 1,050 glowing dots.

All the pretty lights and details aside - this car is fast. The C 400 4MATIC has two motors that deliver 489 horsepower and it can go from zero to 62 mph in 4 seconds. As the new CLA, the C-Class uses a two-speed transmission. The first gear helps the car take off quickly from a stop. The second gear helps it stay efficient when you are driving fast on the highway. This setup ensures you have power when you want it and efficiency when you need it.

Mercedes says this car is as smooth as their most expensive model, the S-Class. The AIRMATIC air suspension technology uses computers to see bumps in the road before the car even hits them. It also uses Google Maps to know if the car should stay low for better speed or raise up for a softer ride. To make it easier to park, the rear wheels can turn up to 4.5 degrees, making the turning circle only 36.7 ft, which is perfect for tight city streets.

Inside, the cabin looks as futuristic as they get. If you pay for the upgrade, you get the MBUX Hyperscreen - a nearly 100-cm screen that covers the whole dashboard. Standard models still get plenty of tech, including a 10.3-inch screen for the driver and a 14-inch screen in the middle. The car uses AI like ChatGPT and Google Gemini to talk to you. You can ask it questions, and it will respond like a helpful friend.

Sitting in the electric Mercedes C-Class is meant to be a relaxing experience. The seats can give you a massage and blow cool air on you during hot days. If you live in a cold place, the heater is a big deal. Mercedes says the new heat pump warms up the inside twice as fast as an old gas car. The new system recycles warmth from the battery and the motors save energy, so you can keep driving instead of wasting battery power just to stay warm.

The car is also bigger than the older gas-powered version. The distance between the front and back wheels is 116.6 inches - 3.82 inches longer than before - giving passengers more legroom. There is also more headspace because of the large glass roof, which features 162 tiny glowing stars. For people who care about the environment, the interior is certified vegan. It uses high-quality materials that look like leather.

You will find plenty of room for your things in this new Mercedes. The trunk holds 16.6 ft³ of cargo. Since there is no engine in the front, there is an extra storage that holds 3.57 ft³ - perfect for charging cables or a small suitcase. If you need to carry even more, the car can tow a trailer weighing up to 40 lb, making it a very versatile car for families who like to go on adventures.

We can expect to see the C 400 4MATIC on the road in the first half of 2027. Mercedes will also release the 300+ version with rear-wheel drive later that year. That model might be able to go even further, reaching about 497 miles on one charge. We do not have the final prices yet, but Mercedes will share those closer to the launch date.
