Tesla

Tesla will seed an OTA update to 2 million US vehicles equipped with Autopilot, the latest recall filling reveals. The reason for the update is NHTSA's two-year-long investigation into Tesla's Autopilot system.

NHTSA forces Tesla to push an Autopilot update to improve safety

Due to the increasing number of crashes with stationary first-responder vehicles on the side of the road when Autopilot is active, NHTSA concluded that the self-driving feature needs more warnings to keep the attention of the driver on the road. Reportedly, Tesla cars were involved in a number of accidents involving police and firefighter vehicles parked on the side of the road.

Even though Tesla was forced to update Autopilot, it does not agree with NHTSA's investigation findings, the company says. As of now, we are unsure the exact type of warnings Tesla will implement.
