Nio teases its Rolls-Royce-inspired ET9 flagship

Nio

A teaser video released on Weibo and YouTube offers a glimpse into the wheels of Nio's upcoming ET9 flagship model, set to be unveiled on Nio Day 2023. The video showcases a unique design feature reminiscent of Rolls-Royce - the Nio logo remains steadfast while the wheels turn.

Nio's foray into the executive flagship sedan market is understandably met with a lot of excitement. The Nio Day 2023 event, scheduled for December 23 at 7 pm Beijing Time, is poised to be a spectacle lasting 2.5 hours, concluding by 9:30 pm Beijing Time.

The ET9, positioned to break ground in a niche historically dominated by non-Chinese brands, is the most technologically-advanced car the company has made. William Li, Nio's founder, chairman, and CEO, emphasized this shift during a recent livestream, asserting that in the era of smart EVs, executive flagships must double as tech flagships.

The upcoming model will operate on a 900 V high-voltage architecture to offer swifter charging. Since all Nio models support battery swap technology, the new vehicle will offer it as well.

As the electric automotive giant warms up for the big reveal, speculation is rife that Nio may introduce an in-house developed autonomous driving chip at Nio Day 2023.
