Opel

Opel announced its first fully electric minivan back in December 2023 and is now opening the order books at a much lower price than initially anticipated. All the available trims are about $17,600 cheaper than what Open announced back in December.

The Zafira Electric is based on the EMP2 platform and comes in two variants - 50 kWh battery or 75 kWh battery. In both cases, you will be getting a front-mounted 136 hp electric motor. The WLTP range isn't listed for the 50 kWh variant but the 75 kWh model is said to offer 216 miles of autonomy.

While the Zafira Electric was announced in S, M and L versions, Opel has now opted for M and XL versions instead. The base M model with 50 kWh battery asks $55,700, down from the previous $74,100 while the entry price for the XL with the small battery was initially $75,065, but is now $63,910. The most beefed-up GS trim of the Zafira Electric XL 75 kWh can be had for $72,800.

To achieve the reduction in price, Opel had to resort to some cost-cutting measures. For instance, the base Edition variant no longer offers leather seats and the front seat electric adjustment is no longer part of the standard equipment. The GS equipment is the only one that has moveable seats in the second and third rows.

The standard package also removes the electric sliding doors and requires manual operation. The base version now comes with 17" steel wheels as well, while the GS comes with aluminum ones as standrad. The integrated sat nav and the rearview camera are also only available on the GS trim. The same goes for the heated seats, steering wheel and the dual-zone AC.

There's a minor upgrade to the interior in the Edition variant, though. You get a 10-inch infotainment screen instead of 7".
