Peugeot

Peugeot is the next automaker to employ OpenAI's ChatGPT. Following the footsteps of other European car manufacturers like Volkswagen and DS Automobiles, Peugeot is now making its I-Cockpit infotainment system smarter and much more helpful with the inclusion of the AI assistant.

By saying "Ok Peugeot", you can engage in a human-like conversation with ChatGPT and ask for helpful tips, directions or just chat about things while on the road. The voice assistant can understand context and keep up with simple and more complex topics.

Stellantis didn't mention any deeper car integration, though. Unlike competing implementations, which offer hands-off control of in-car features, Peugeot's ChatGPT-powered assistant seems to be limited to just interacting with you rather than adjusting the car settings.

In any case, if you are a Peugeot owner, you can head to Peugeot's Service Store and enable ChatGPT for free for the next 6 months as part of a pilot program. The slots are limited to just 10,000 people, so you might want to hurry.

The eligible vehicles include the most recent 208, 2008, 308, 308SW, 408, 508, 508 SW, E-3008, E-RIFTER, E-TRAVELLER, E-Partner and E-Expert models. The feature will soon be available to the new E-5008 as well.

For as long as there is still mechanical steering it's OK, but watch this space once AI can take over control and override driver's input, because the steering system is not mechanical anymore, like in Cybertruck. Something very similar alr...
