Porsche Cayenne Electric details surface, to come with record-breaking charging speeds

The all-electric Porsche Cayenne Electric isn't out just yet, but according to the newly outed specs, it's going to be an impressive SUV, to say the least. The company is already testing it on the US streets too.

The guys from Autogefuhl even had the chance to take one of the near-production Cayennes out on the road for some test driving and revealed key specs.

Of course, the Cayenne Electric will be based on the 800V Premium Platform Electric architecture that underpins the Porsche Macan Electric and the Audi Q6 e-tron. The platform is paired with a huge 108 kWh (usable) battery, which is enough to get the Cayenne going for up to 373 miles per WLTP, depending on the drivetrain configuration, of course.

One of the most interesting bits about the future SUV is the charging rate. Porsche claims it can reach a peak of 400 kW, charging from 10% to 80% in just 16 minutes. Provided you find a fast enough charging station, of course.

Speaking of charging, the Cayenne will offer two charging ports, both placed at the back of the vehicle, but only one supports the 400 kW DC charging.

The Cayenne Electric will come in three variants, each with an all-wheel drive. An in-house electric motor sits on the back, along with a front one from Bosch. The three variants are the Cayenne, Cayenne S, and Cayenne Turbo, with power outputs of 400, 600, and 805 hp, respectively.

The car gets an air suspension coupled with twin-valve dampers so that the Cayenne can lower its ride by 10mm at speeds above 44 mph and by 30mm when you reach 84 mph.

Porsche says that the Cayenne Electric won't fully replace its gas-powered counterpart as both will coexist in the years to come.
