Rivian

Following the big news about Rivian and Volkswagen's partnership earlier today, Rivian shared more details about the future plans and financial details surrounding the partnership on its website. The shareholder letter is joined by what seems to be a roadmap.

Rivian shares a graph suggesting 5 new vehicles in the pipeline

The graphics aim to demonstrate Rivian's software scalability across its platforms, some of which are still unreleased. The interesting bits are the placeholder images of five vehicles on the graph.

The first column represents the already released R1S, R1T and the RCV. The second column are the second-gen R1S and R1T, which are said to be easier to be easier to produce and considerably more cost-efficient too. That's thanks to the Gen 2 architecture, as Rivian calls it.

The placeholder image there is likely the second-generation RCV, although the covered vehicle's silhouette doesn't match the RCV. And if you look close enough, not all placeholder images match. They are different and that alone suggests Rivian is hiding different vehicles under wraps.

The third column represents the announced R2 and R3 vehicles based on the MSP platform. The placeholder image shows a considerably smaller vehicle with a lower stance. So, it could be a smaller crossover or the R2T. It can even be a sedan, by the looks of it, but Rivian hasn't shared any plans to release a sedan yet.

The fourth column is a complete mystery, though, except for the "Affordable Mass Market" headline. All the vehicles there are under wraps, but the profiles suggest there will be small, medium-sized and big vehicles. That will likely put those in the low-to-mid $30,000 range. Or maybe the cheapest one will be available for less than $30,000. It's just too early to tell.

I choose the top row, third column: R3R A hard-top electric convertible with real leg-room to spare! Use the space to include a mini-spare-tire well under the trunk deck would be a +1. Priced at $40k, and also qualifies for all local, state, ...
