Stellantis has unveiled its latest innovation in the electric vehicle EV space: the STLA Frame platform. This new platform is engineered specifically for full-size trucks and SUVs, aiming to deliver "best-in-class capabilities."

The STLA Frame platform is a flexible foundation for a variety of powertrain options. While it will underpin all-electric models, it's can also accommodate range-extended (EREV), hybrid (HEV), internal combustion engine (ICE), and even hydrogen-powered vehicles.

One of the most impressive promises of the STLA Frame platform is its exceptional range. With a class-leading target of up to 500 miles, it aims to alleviate range anxiety, a common concern among potential EV buyers. This impressive range is made possible by liquid-cooled battery packs ranging from 159 kWh to over 200 kWh, housed within the widened center section of the platform.

Performance is a big part of the STLA Frame platform. It has a maximum towing capacity of up to 14,000 lb and a payload rating of 2,700 lb. It's designed to handle the heavy-duty tasks that truck and SUV owners demand. With up to 350 kW fast charging support, adding 100 miles of range takes just 10 minutes. Vehicles built on this new platform will have bi-directional charging, allowing them to power your home or feed energy back to the grid.

The first vehicle to use the STLA Frame platform will be the Ram 1500 REV electric pickup truck, expected to launch in the first half of 2025. This truck will be offered in both EV and REV configurations. While the Ram 1500 REV is the first confirmed vehicle, it's anticipated that the STLA Frame platform will underpin a range of upcoming Jeep and Ram models, including electric versions of popular SUVs like the Grand Wagoneer and Grand Cherokee.

The STLA Frame platform is the latest addition to Stellantis's family of global EV platforms, following the STLA Medium and STLA Large. These platforms help the company provide a diverse range of electric vehicles that meet the evolving needs of customers across different segments. With its focus on range, performance, and sustainability, the STLA Frame platform is finally making electric trucks and SUVs less of a compromise and more of what they are supposed to be - work vehicles.

Truck drivers usually make 3-4 stops when driving 500 miles. Nio can do 3 minute battery swap. 5.5C fast chargers can do 15 minutes fast charge. 500 mile range battery is not needed. Too much weight, waste of resources. Just make fast chargers or ba...
