Tesla

Tesla has today detailed the next update headed to its Cybertruck, and it's going to be a pretty important one. The Cybertruck will get an Off-Road Mode with this update, which should, as the name implies, improve the truck's performance on off-road surfaces.

There's going to be an Overland mode with more consistent handling and better overall traction while driving on rock, gravel, deep snow, or sand, and a Baja mode, which improves the truck's balance and makes it handle more freely when Stability Assist is set to Minimal.

On uneven or slippery terrain, if a wheel has limited or no traction, the truck will direct the torque to the opposite wheel, and in Off-Road Mode you can choose from Locking Differentials options - the Cyberbeast Tri-Motor version of the Cybertruck gets a Front Locking Differential that can be enabled if you want to, and a virtual rear locked differential which is always working in Overland mode.

Trail Assist is like cruise control, but for off-roading, helping you maintain a set cruising speed so you yourself only need to focus on steering and nothing else. This works as both a hill ascent and descent control ensuring the wheels don't slip.

There are "on-road" improvements too, with better traction control on snowy, icy, wet, or slick roads to distribute traction evenly across all tires. Also, the adaptive suspension will estimate payload more accurately and automatically adjust damping to deliver a more comfortable ride and more consistent handling.

Finally, the CyberTent Mode will level the suspension so you can sleep comfortably on a flat surface and will keep the tonneau cover open to accommodate your tent, along with lights, AC, and outlets.

It's unclear exactly when the new software will start rolling out to the Cybertruck, but it surely won't be long now.

should we hope Elon Musk won't lay off the engineers responsible from the update?
