Tesla

Excitement mounts in the world of electric vehicles with the spotlight cast on Tesla's forthcoming Model 3 variant, dubbed "Highland". Recently, a flurry of activity was observed at a New Zealand winter testing facility, sparking interest and intrigue among Tesla enthusiasts worldwide. The Cybertruck Owners Club forum lit up with spy photos, generously shared by user MarkusNZL, revealing a group of intriguing prototypes parked at the testing complex.

The Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds (SHPG), where the images were captured, is renowned as a destination Tesla frequents to put its vehicles to the winter test. MarkusNZL's images hint at Tesla utilizing this renowned facility for rigorous testing of the new Model 3, especially when Alaskan conditions don't meet the firm's stringent requirements - apparently Alaska is too warm.

Now the whole S3XY Tesla Family has gathered at the SHPG in Cardrona/New Zealand! Maybe to shot a new winter video soon, similar to the one last winter? https://t.co/PTBcai84qz

Interestingly, the pictures not only featured the Model 3 Highland, but they also showcased the camouflaged, and much-awaited, Cybertruck. There were indications that another Cybertruck prototype might be present, even though its image was elusive due to tightened security. The elusive truck is said to lack vinyl wrapping, bearing instead the number "512" in blue tape on its body.

Shifting focus back to the Model 3, Tesla's determination to fast-tracking its development is quite evident. This is a tantalizing indication that the Austin-based EV pioneer could simultaneously introduce the revamped Model 3 and the new Cybertruck, potentially as soon as the third quarter.

During a shareholders' meeting in May, Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, hinted at two forthcoming products from the company, accompanying his statement with a silhouette of a Model 3-esque vehicle on the screen. However, the true plans remain largely speculative until an official reveal.

The revamped Model 3, codenamed the Highland, is expected to sport both a redesigned front and a refreshed rear end. Reports suggest a shift from the current horizontal amber lights to vertical indicator lights in the tail lights. The interior will get a refresh as well, and according to some sources, the new Model 3 is longer than the outgoing version - most likely due to different front and rear bumpers.

The potential advantages of the Model 3 Highland extend beyond aesthetics. According to speculation, the Highland model could also offer manufacturing benefits. With fewer parts needed in assembly, this model could not only simplify the manufacturing process but also help bring down the starting price.

As we inch closer to the reveal date, the anticipation for Tesla's new offerings continues to amplify. Both the Cybertruc and Model 3 are in their final stages of testing meaning the official unveiling is close - whether you are Tesla’s fan or not, those two vehicles will reshape the EV world, one way or another.
