Eli

The Zero microcar from new brand Eli has reportedly been quite successful across the world, and now it's launching in the US. It's not available yet, but you can reserve one for a fully refundable $200.

Its MSRP is $11,990, and reserving one will secure your place in line to get it early, since there will apparently be limited availability. Speaking of which, said availability is due to start sometime in the third quarter, so from July to September, and initially only reservation holders will be able to order one.

When the microcar is finally available in your area, an authorized dealer will contact you to configure yours and finalize your order. Since it's refundable, you can of course cancel your reservation at any point.

The Eli Zero has 60 miles of maximum range "under optimum driving conditions" from its 8 kWh battery, 5.7 ft³ of trunk space, a "premium interior" with optional fake leather, Bluetooth-enabled speakers, support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a top speed of 25 mph.

It's more of an alternative to a scooter, with the class of a Citroen Ami than a car, you're still dry and warm

Realistically in our town it needs a maximum speed of 70kph/44mph to deal with the 40mph limit zones, to avoid road rage. 25mph is inadequate.

25mph max speed makes this thing basically unusable in most American cities where the speed limit suddenly increases to 45mph for no reason
