The new Xiaomi SU7 gets a fresh interior option

Xiaomi

It's been only a couple of weeks since Xiaomi revealed its updated SU7 sedan. The car might look familiar on the outside, but a lot has changed under the metal. From a brand-new interior color to massive upgrades in speed and charging, Xiaomi is making sure the SU7 stays on top of the sales charts.

One of the most talked-about changes, apart from the technical bits, is the new "Cream Beige" interior. Xiaomi says the color comes from the look of warm, natural pottery. Marketing speak aside - it is a soft, light tan that makes the cabin feel calm and expensive. The company redesigned the steering wheel as well, and the center console area got a refresh. You will notice intricate stitching on the seats and doors that gives the car a high-end feel without being too flashy.

If you are looking at the price tag, things have shifted a little. The new Xiaomi SU7 starts at RMB 229,900, which is about $32,800. The top-end model goes up to RMB 309,900, or roughly $44,300. This is a price jump of about $1,400 compared to the older version. But for that extra money, buyers get a lot more technology and better parts. Even with the price hike, the SU7 is still a very strong choice for anyone shopping for a mid-sized EV.

The outside of the car keeps its sporty shape, but there are small tweaks if you look closely. It is still a big sedan, measuring 196.7 inches long and 77.3 inches wide. It sits 56.9 inches tall and has a long 118 inches wheelbase, which means plenty of legroom inside. A new radar sensor is now hidden in the front grille to help the car "see" the road better. The "waterdrop" headlights are also impressive, shining a bright beam up to 1,312 ft ahead in the dark.

Performance is where this new model really shines. Every version of the SU7 now comes with the V6s Plus Super Motor. If you choose the single-motor version, you get 235 kW of power, which is about 315 hp. That is enough to hit a top speed of 149 mph. If you want more speed, the dual-motor version is a beast. It uses a 220 kW motor in the front and a 288 kW motor in the back. Together, they push the car to a top speed of 165 mph.

Xiaomi also worked hard on how the car handles corners. All models now have wider tires - 9.6 inches in the front and 10.4 inches in the back - to grip the road better. The more expensive Pro and Max versions come with an improved air suspension system that can change how soft or firm the ride feels depending on the road. Xiaomi also upgraded the brakes with larger pads and stronger calipers.

Charging is usually high on the list of things to worry about for people buying EVs, but Xiaomi has a solution. The entire lineup now uses an 800V battery system. This is a big deal because it allows for super-fast charging. If you use a DC charger, you can add 416 miles of range in just 15 minutes - barely enough time to grab a snack and stretch your legs. The driving range is also great; the Pro model can travel over 559 miles on a full charge, though that number comes from the optimistic CLTC test. In real life, that range will be closer to 435 miles, which is still impressive.

Finally, the car is smarter than before. Every version comes standard with LiDAR and advanced radar sensors. These tools feed information into a powerful computer chip that handles the self-driving features. This system helps the car stay in its lane, adjust its speed, and avoid obstacles. It is quite clear that Xiaomi is not making a phone on wheels - it has built a serious contender in the world of high-tech transportation. And the sales numbers confirm that with buyers voting with their wallets in droves.
