Xiaomi

Xiaomi's popular SU7 is the first sedan to outsell Tesla's Model 3 in China. Last year saw the end of a streak dating back all the way to 2019, as Xiaomi beat Tesla at its own game.

Xiaomi sold more SU7 units than the Tesla Model 3 in 2025

According to data published by the China Passenger Car Association, Xiaomi shipped 256,164 units in 2025, which is almost 30% more than the Model 3's 200,361 sales.

Maybe it's no surprise given that the SU7 is a tremendously-received EV, undercutting the Model 3's price by roughly 9%. Additionally, the CLTC range of Xiaomi's car is 435 miles, a tad more than the Model 3's base RWD model rated at 394 miles. Also, the Xiaomi SU7 base model offers LiDAR and advanced driver assistance features.

In the second half of last year Xiaomi took on Tesla's other golden goose as well. The Xiaomi YU7 mid-size SUV is getting an equally warm reception by journalists and owners, and while the Model Y will be harder to beat, we wouldn't put it past Xiaomi looking at its tremendous growth so far.

Registrations are the true datapoint - not shipments. Shipments are NOT sales.

They actually have a backorder. So units shipped are units sold in this case.
