New Nissan Juke is a bold electric crossover

Nissan has always liked to do things differently. When the first Juke came out years ago, it looked like a frog on wheels. People either loved it or thought it was the strangest thing on the road. Now, Nissan is doubling down on that unique style. The company showed off the third generation of the Juke, and this time, it is joining the growing list of electric cars coming to the market.

This new model will arrive in early 2027. It will be a pure electric vehicle, built on a shared platform called the CMF-EV, which is also known as the AmpR Medium platform - the new Juke shares its "bones" with the Renault Scenic E-Tech, the Alpine A390, and the Nissan Ariya.

The design is the first thing you will notice. Nissan used sharp, jagged lines all over the body. The front has a massive blacked-out grille and headlights that look like they belong on a spaceship. To make sure everyone sees it coming, Nissan painted the show car a very bright shade of green. Even the wheel arches are angular and black, giving it a tough but strange look. It is definitely not a car for people who want to blend into the background.

Fans of the old Nissan Juke will recognize one specific detail. The handles for the back doors are still hidden up high near the roof. At the back, the car has complex LED lights and a very different kind of trunk lid. It looks more like a concept car that usually sits in a museum than something you would drive every day. Nissan has not shown the inside yet, but if it is as wild as the outside, it will be quite a sight.

We do not have every single detail about the motor yet, but we know a bit about the power source. These electric cars will likely come with two choices for the battery - a 52 kWh and a larger 75 kWh pack. The Juke will have vehicle-to-grid technology, or V2G. It will be able to send power from its battery back into your house or the city's power grid.

Nissan plans to build the new Juke at its factory in Sunderland, England, the same place where they make the Nissan Leaf. By building multiple electric cars in one place, the company can keep its workers busy and its production lines running smoothly.

Usually, when a new car comes out, the old one goes away but Nissan is doing something different here. The company wants to keep selling the current second-generation hybrid Juke at the same time as the new electric one. To make them look similar, Nissan will even update the old model's style to match the new electric look.

The Nissan Juke has never been a boring car, and it seems Nissan wants to keep it that way. By turning it into a full electric crossover, they are making sure it stays relevant. It might look a little crazy, but being a little strange might be exactly what Nissan needs to win over drivers.
