Nio

Nio is working on an upgraded version of its ES8 SUV, and this will feature LiDAR. In late August it was spotted on the streets in China wrapped in camo, and today more spy shots of it have been outed.

The new ES8 will have a different headlight configuration compared to the current model. Unsurprisingly, it's got the same LiDAR and camera setup as the ES7, ET7, and ET5 - all four are based on the same platform, the NT 2.0.

Chinese media expect it to feature a similar "X-Bar" design language as the ET7, ET5, and ES7, and a closed front. The overall design style is very similar to that of the current model, but the taillight design will be new.

The ES8, ES6, and EC6 are all currently running on the NT 1.0 platform, and Nio is expected to release upgraded models for these based on the NT 2.0 platform next year. The new models will get upgraded sensor kits and chips. NT 2.0 based cars come with LiDAR as standard and have the Nio Adam computer inside.

According to rumors from China, the new ES8 will be longer than the current ES8, which means more room for the third row of seats. The second row is also apparently getting a big upgrade. We'll let you know when we find out more.
