Volvo

Volvo finally is making good on its promise of a more accessible entry into its electric lineup in the US. The 2026 Volvo EX30 is now available with a new Single Motor option, carrying a starting price of $38,950. This is a $6,000 reduction from the initial dual-motor offering, making the EX30 an interesting choice for those looking to switch to an electric car without breaking the bank.

The new entry-level EX30 comes with a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle, producing 268 horsepower. This rear-wheel-drive configuration is paired with the same 69 kWh battery found in its more powerful sibling. The result is an EPA-estimated range of up to 261 miles on a single charge.

The Twin Motor Performance variant is still available if you want more excitement out of your electric Volvo. For an additional $6,000, this all-wheel-drive powerhouse delivers 422 horsepower. Both versions are capable of DC fast charging at speeds up to 175 kW, allowing the battery to go from 10% to 80% in 28 minutes.

Even at its lower price, the EX30 doesn't skimp on features. The standard "Plus" trim level is well-equipped. An "Ultra" package can be added, but it hikes the price to $46,650. It includes advanced features like Park Pilot Assist and a 360-degree camera system with a 3D view. The EX30's compact dimensions, with an overall length of 166.7 inches, make it a good companion for city driving.

Volvo is also adding to the EX30 family a more rugged, off-road-oriented version: the EX30 Cross Country. Starting at $48,150, this variant is exclusively available with the powerful all-wheel-drive, twin-motor setup. It's designed for those who want their electric car to handle more than just paved city streets.

The Cross Country model distinguishes itself with a host of adventure-ready features. It has extra ground clearance, a blacked-out grille, protective skid plates, and wider wheel arches, giving it a more muscular and purposeful look. This version is happy to navigate snowy trails as well as commute through the city. The trade-off for its off-road skills is a slightly reduced range of 227 miles.

The new additions to the EX30 lineup are part of a refresh of Volvo's electric vehicle offerings for the 2026 model year. The flagship three-row electric SUV, the Volvo EX90, was given under-the-skin upgrades, including faster charging and more computing power for its safety and infotainment systems.

Volvo is as well extending the "Black Edition" design package to its electric cars for the first time. The EX40 will be the first to get this stylish, blacked-out treatment, featuring black wheels, badging, and other exterior accents for a more aggressive and sophisticated appearance.
