Volvo is charging ahead with its latest creation, the ES90. Tbe company shared a brief video that shows its upcoming fully electric sedan flagship.

The ES90 was shown briefly, and it is set to debut in March 2025 in its hometown of Stockholm. This being a Volvo, the ES90 promises a driving experience where luxury meets sustainability.

The ES90, Volvo's first electric sedan, will share a lot with the EX90 SUV, including the 111 kWh battery. Built on Volvo's bespoke electric platform, the ES90 will feature a suite of advanced software systems and features.

Leaked details suggest the ES90 will stretch to approximately five meters and will come in both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations. With a usable battery capacity of 107 kWh, the ES90 is expected to comfortably surpass the EX90 SUV's claimed range of 300 miles.

Although primarily developed with the Chinese market in mind, where demand for luxury sedans is high, the ES90 will also grace showrooms in other markets, including Europe and the UK.

Volvo teases a silent, electric stunner: the ES90

The video premiered at the "90/90 day" event in Gothenburg offered a glimpse of the ES90's silhouette. The car's design clearly draws inspiration from the EX90. The ES90's outline suggests a departure from Volvo's current sedan lineup, with a more forward-leaning A-pillar.

Under the skin, the ES90 is expected to use a variant of Geely's SEA platform, known for its modularity and adaptability. This platform underpins a diverse range of vehicles, from the affordable Volvo EX30 to the high-performance Lotus Emeya.

When it hits the market, the ES90 will face stiff competition from established rivals like the BMW i5 and Mercedes-Benz EQE, as well as the Audi A6 e-tron. However, with its blend of Scandinavian design, cutting-edge technology, and safety credentials, the ES90 should make a compelling case for itself.

Another "Volvo" badges Chinese car. It seems Volvo becomes just badge engineering; no more made in Sweden 😟
