Watch the Kia EV6 try its best in a drag race with a Ferrari F355

Kia

Have you ever looked at a Kia EV6 and thought to yourself - "Hmm, I wonder how well this would do in a drag race against a supercar from the 90s"? Because if you have, today you are finally getting the answer to that very specific question, since Mat Watson decided to test exactly that on the Carwow YouTube channel.

On one hand we have the Kia EV6 LR AWD with 325 hp and 605 Nm of torque, weighing 2,090 kg (4,607 lbs), and in the other corner is a Ferrari F355 with 380 hp, 360 Nm of torque, and a weight of just 1,350 kg (2,976 lbs). They're both red! The Ferrari has a manual gearbox and a 3.5l V8 naturally aspirated engine.

Judging by the horsepower numbers alone you'd be inclined to think that the Ferrari might easily win this. But - spoiler alert! - it's not actually as easy as the numbers make it out to be. In fact it even loses the first drag race, most likely due to the gear shifting.

It then finally comes into its own for the second and third races, but while it does win, the Kia is closer behind than you may have thought, despite it being much heavier and having fewer horsepower. The upcoming EV6 GT would have probably killed the Ferrari in such a race, with its 585 hp and 740 Nm of torque, but even this mid-tier version doesn't do half bad.
