Xiaomi has steered its way into an entirely new arena: the world of virtual motorsports. The company's first-ever electric vehicle, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, has officially landed in Gran Turismo 7, the acclaimed racing simulator for PlayStation. This is a huge milestone, as the SU7 becomes the first Chinese-produced car to be featured in the long and storied history of the Gran Turismo franchise.

For decades, getting a car into Gran Turismo has been a mark of prestige, a digital coronation that places a vehicle alongside legendary names like Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche. The game was developed by Japan's Polyphony Digital and led by producer Kazunori Yamauchi. It is revered for its realism and has served as a cultural touchstone for car enthusiasts since its 1997 debut.

The inclusion of the Xiaomi SU7 signals a recognition of China's rapidly evolving auto industry and its growing ambition to compete on the world stage, not just in sales figures but in performance and design. Players will soon be able to get behind the virtual wheel of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, a car that represents the absolute peak of the company's ambitious automotive vision.

The performance-focused version of the SU7 series is engineered for extreme speed and power. The SU7 Ultra is powered by a three-motor system, which includes a Xiaomi-developed V8s motor capable of a remarkable peak speed of 27,200 rpm. This advanced powertrain delivers a combined output of 1,548 hp, enabling the car to achieve acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in 1.98 seconds. With a top speed of over 217 mph and a track-grade battery system, the SU7 Ultra has already claimed multiple lap records for four-door production cars at various circuits.

The partnership between Xiaomi and Gran Turismo will extend to the creation of an official Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo car. The Vision GT program invites automakers to design boundary-pushing concept cars exclusively for the game, free from the constraints of real-world production, and this is where the wild specifications of the "Ultra" may find a home.

The arrival of the Xiaomi SU7 in Gran Turismo 7 is a cultural moment representing the shifting dynamics of the global automotive landscape. A tech company from China has successfully launched a competitive electric car and, in a remarkably short time, has seen it immortalized in a digital garage next to the world's most iconic automobiles.
