XPeng Announcement

Following the brand's entry into the UK market in February 2025, XPeng's popular G6 SUV is getting a complete overhaul, in the hope of attracting drivers who want advanced technology but don't want to sacrifice practicality.

The new G6 steps onto the stage as a serious contender, especially for buyers looking for an all-electric vehicle that handles the unpredictable realities of daily driving, from busy city streets to the sometimes challenging roads across the UK.

The G6's prowess lies in the latest charging technology, which pushes boundaries for electric cars in this segment. XPeng engineered the vehicle around an 80.8 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery. This cell chemistry eliminates the need for expensive and contentious precious metals like cobalt, nickel, and manganese, yet delivers similar performance.

Paired with XPeng's advanced 800V High-Voltage SiC platform, the new battery achieves a remarkable peak charging power of 451 kW. This system helps the new G6 achieve what the company calls the fastest charging time in its segment: a jump from 10% to 80% SoC in 12 minutes.

This technology also enhances the vehicle's long-term value by increasing the battery's lifespan by 30 percent. For drivers dealing with cold British winters, a high-efficiency heat pump now comes standard on all trims, working alongside XPeng Heat Boost technology to keep the cabin warm without wasting precious range.

Power enthusiasts will find their match in the new all-wheel-drive Performance Black Edition, available to UK drivers for the first time. This dual-motor setup delivers 358 kW of power and 487 lb-ft of torque, allowing this AWD performance version to sprint from a standstill to 62 mph in 4.13 seconds.

The vehicle's all-wheel-drive system and advanced chassis tuning promise confident traction and exceptional handling. The Black Edition package features 20-inch black sport alloy wheels, smoked black exterior trim on mirrors and window surrounds, black brake calipers, and gray suede-textured upholstery inside.

XPeng claims it invested in more than 20,000 incremental refinements across the G6, focusing on a polished driving experience. These detailed changes - ranging from suspension and chassis tuning to improved NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) levels - create a more refined ride with exceptional stability and comfort.

Outside, the EV gets a visual update that includes a 76.5 inches Starlight LED light bar spanning the full width of the front fascia, along with turn signals integrated into the bar for a distinctive look. G6 now features body-colored wheel arches instead of the previous black cladding, and a cleaner rear diffuser, complemented by a new rear spoiler. These tweaks help maintain an impressive 0.248 Cd drag coefficient. The new Stellar Purple color option joins the palette for buyers looking to make a statement.

The interior reveals an equal focus on luxury and functionality. Drivers and passengers will enjoy a modern atmosphere created by new wood-grain dash trim, a suede-effect ceiling, and a fresh Dark Grey color theme. The front seats have heating, ventilation, and massage functions, while the rear seats get a 12-level recline function.

Practical enhancements include redesigned speaker covers and dual 50W wireless charging panels for smartphones. The G6 is genuinely practical for active families, with 20.2 ft³ of trunk space that expands to 48.5 ft³ when the rear seats fold down, plus a large center armrest box that can easily hold up to five standard water bottles.

The XOS cockpit system is responsible for delivering smoother user interface transitions, faster app response times, and smarter voice recognition. The enhanced "Hey XPeng" voice assistant can now provide intelligent recommendations across the cabin's four zones.

XPeng puts a heavy emphasis on safety, giving the battery a structural safety framework and ballistic-grade armor, enabling it to withstand extreme conditions. The comprehensive XPILOT ASSIST system provides advanced driver-assistance features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering Control, and Enhanced AutoParking Assist.

The new XPeng G6 will hit the UK roads in February 2026, with prices starting at $54,920 on the road for the RWD Standard Range, rising to $61,780 for the Long Range model, and the top-tier AWD Performance Black Edition available from $68,650.
