XPeng

Since partially unveiling the Mona 03 earlier this month, XPeng has been generating a lot of interest with its upcoming EV, positioned to directly compete with the Tesla Model 3. While the company published official photos of the exterior, the interior remained a mystery - until now. The latest Mona M03 spy photos offer us a glimpse of a minimalist design reminiscent of its Tesla rival.

The leaked images show a spacious cabin dominated by a large, horizontal touchscreen in the center console. This echoes the Model 3's layout, where the touchscreen controls most vehicle functions. Unlike other XPeng models, which typically feature dual screens, the M03 appears to have a smaller screen tucked away behind the steering wheel, likely dedicated to displaying essential driving information.

This minimalist approach extends to the lack of physical buttons, save for the scroll wheels on the steering wheel. While this design choice may appeal to those who prefer a minimalist aesthetic, in practice, it will require some time to get used to.

In terms of specifications, the Mona M03 measures 188.2 inches in length, 74.6 inches in width, and 56.9 inches in height, with a wheelbase of 110.8 inches. It will be available in two single-motor variants, with peak power outputs of 140 kW and 160 kW, respectively. Both variants will be powered by LFP batteries supplied by FinDreams Battery, a subsidiary of BYD.

XPeng has confirmed that the Mona M03 will be priced under RMB 200,000 ($27,600), making it a direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3. With its minimalist interior and competitive pricing, the Mona M03 has a chance to be a strong contender. Whether it can truly match the Model 3's popularity is entirely a different question. We'll get an answer to it when the Mona M03 officially debuts in August.
