BYD has thrown down the gauntlet in the electric sedan market with the refreshed 2025 Han. Complete with a suite of significant upgrades and a strategic price reduction, the Han is primed to keep competitors like Xiaomi and Geely on their toes. Whether you're drawn to the efficiency of plug-in hybrids or the thrill of pure electric power, the Han's got something for everyone.
BYD has priced the new Han quite aggressively, with the cheapest PHEV version starting at RMB 165,800 ($23,300) and going all the way to RMB 225,800 ($31,700). The battery-powered versions start from RMB 179,800 ($25,250), with the top-of-the-range model priced at RMB 235,800 ($33,100). The PHEV models are some $550 cheaper than the outgoing version, while the EV prices stayed the same despite improved equipment levels.
The 2025 Han throws in BYD's latest and greatest tech to make the choice between gasoline and electric even more compelling. The electric models, with ranges between 314 miles and 436 miles, depending on the battery pack, now come with BYD's Blade Battery technology. These batteries go the distance, and they're engineered for enhanced safety and longevity. And if you're in a hurry, the fast-charging capability gets you back on the road with an 80% charge in just half an hour.
For those who aren't quite ready to ditch gasoline entirely, the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version uses BYD's fifth-generation DM-i hybrid system. This clever combination of a 1.5T turbocharged engine and an electric motor offers enough grunt to propel the Han from 0 to 62 mph in 6.9 seconds. The PHEV version apparently sips fuel at 3.8 l/62 miles in hybrid mode, offering a combined range of up to 839 miles.
The 2025 Han might have the heart of a tech powerhouse, but it also knows how to make a statement. While the dimensions remain similar to previous models – 195.9 inches long, 75.2 inches wide, and 58.9 inches tall, with a 115 inches wheelbase – the Han's design has received some subtle yet impactful tweaks. A sleek new "fashion gray" color option has been added, and the front-end design now sports a more unified look across both the DM-i and EV variants. The simplified grille, particularly striking on the electric models with its closed-off appearance, gives the Han an undeniably modern edge. And for those who crave a bit more visual drama, the black sports package adds a touch of aggression.
Inside, the Han is all about refined comfort and the latest tech. The centerpiece is a 15.6-inch 2.5K touchscreen infotainment system that supports an array of interactive functions, including voice commands and 3D navigation. Both the driver and front passenger get to enjoy the luxury of 10-point massaging seats, and the customizable ambient lighting adds a touch of personal flair. The Han comes now equipped with a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system that promises an immersive listening experience with adjustable sound modes and spatial focus.
As expected, the 2025 Han is packed with advanced features. The DiPilot 300 system, leveraging LiDAR and Nvidia Orin-X, offers both highway and urban pilot assistance. The DiSus-C intelligent suspension system ensures a smooth and comfortable ride, adjusting the damping in real time based on driving conditions.
The BYD Han has already proven its popularity, selling over 800,000 units since its launch four years ago. With these impressive upgrades and a price cut for the entry-level PHEV variant, BYD is clearly signaling its intent to stay ahead of the curve.
Waiting for plugin hybrid sedan which is 15 - 20K USD not sure could BYD deliver such thing?
