Today, Audi has unveiled plans to bring the A2 name back to the market in EV form. The A2 e-tron will be fully unveiled this fall, and it's intended to "rejuvenate Audi's model range and open up access to premium electric mobility".

You can see the first preview of the A2 e-tron's silhouette in the image below, shared by Audi today. The car will be manufactured in Ingolstadt, Germany.

The company says it's "targeting a broad international customer base that values everyday usability in the city, sustainability, high efficiency, and digital connectivity" with this car.

The A2 e-tron carries the original A2's mission, of pioneering efficiency and urban mobility, forward into the electric age. Audi CEO Gernot Döllner said:

We’ve listened. Our customers want electric mobility that impresses in everyday life. The A2 e-tron is our promise to deliver exactly that – efficient, compact, and confident. We’re making entry into the electric Audi world easier and more relevant than ever. The A2 e-tron is crucial for our brand and also for our German home. With the production of an additional fully electric model family in Ingolstadt, we are securing jobs and delivering electric mobility made in Germany.
