Audi Announcement

Audi is introducing the Q6 E-tron to the world bit by bit. Today's scoop is one of the bigger ones, though - it's our first look at the high-tech interior.

The Q6 E-tron will slot between the Q4 E-tron and Q8 E-tron and is the first E-tron built on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, co-developed with Porsche, and the E3 architecture.

The interior is as premium and high-tech as you can expect from an Audi. Upfront, there's the "digital stage" - a combination of displays for both the driver and the passenger.

The driver has the MMI panoramic display, which spans two OLED panels - an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit, and the 14.5-inch MMI touch display in the center.

The front passenger gets a separate 10.9-inch display that sits nestled under the corner of the center display, for privacy. It means that it doesn't distract the driver and is angled toward the passenger.

The Q6 E-tron can also be configured with an AR head-up display, which reflects a tilted image plane for the driver with information like the speed, traffic signs, and navigation.

You'll get a choice of interior materials such as Nappa leather with diamond stitching, sweetgum, and birch wood trim, and brushed aluminum, but also sustainable materials like Dinamica microfiber, Elastic Melange fabric, and Econyl.

Thanks to the PPE platform, there is more room for people and their things. There's no center tunnel, which allows for more legroom in the back. There are storage cubbies around the cabin. The center console has room for two cupholders, a wireless charging tray, and two charging ports.

The boot has 526 liters of space (18.6 cubic feet), which can become a whopping 1,529 liters (54 cubic feet) with the back seats folded.

Finally, Audi's new self-learning voice assistant can be invoked by saying "Hey Audi". The assistant will be shown as a dynamic avatar in the dashboard and the augmented reality head-up display.

What if the passenger wants to watch something though, that isn't for you to decide for them

Three displays are too much for me, prefer a simpler and cleaner dashboard with fewer distractions. I don't need a screen for the passenger to watch movies or control the navigation.
