Audi Announcement

Audi has finally taken the covers off the Q6 Sportback e-tron, the latest addition to their growing electric vehicle lineup. This coupe-like SUV made its global debut at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, which started this morning and will go on for the entire week, with many more premieres coming up.

The Q6 Sportback e-tron boasts a completely redesigned roofline that sets it apart from its more traditional sibling, the Audi Q6 e-tron. This change gives it better aerodynamics, contributing to a longer driving range. The Q6 Sportback e-tron offers an impressive WLTP-estimated range of over 400 miles in its top-tier configuration. While EPA estimates are yet to be released, this suggests that the Q6 Sportback e-tron could be a leader in range among electric SUVs in the US market.

The Sportback version offers a variety of powertrains. The base model features a single motor driving the rear wheels, while those wanting a bit more performance can opt for the dual-motor, all-wheel drive Quattro versions. The top-of-the-line SQ6 comes with a dual-motor setup delivering 489 hp and a 0-62 mph time of just 4.3 seconds.

Charging the Q6 Sportback e-tron is a breeze thanks to its 800V electrical architecture. With DC fast charging capabilities of up to 270 kW, topping up the battery from 10% to 80% can take as little as 22 minutes under ideal conditions. Audi also claims the Q6 Sportback e-tron Performance can gain 165 miles of range in just 10 minutes at a fast charger.

The interior of the Q6 Sportback e-tron features an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit display and a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen powered by Android Automotive OS. An optional 10.9-inch passenger display and an augmented reality head-up display are also available.

While the sloping roofline of the Sportback design creates a sportier profile, it does slightly reduce cargo space compared to the standard Q6 e-tron. The Q6 Sportback e-tron offers 18 ft³ of cargo space behind the rear seats, expanding to 48.4 ft³ with the rear seats folded. A front trunk, or "frunk," provides an additional 2.19 ft³ of storage - just enough to keep the charging cables tidy.

The Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron is set to go on sale in Europe later this year with a starting price of $77,200. The top-of-the-range SQ6 Sportback e-tron starts at a rather hefty $112,700, but that was to be expected - a performance premium electric SUV from Audi was never going to be cheap. US buyers will have to wait a bit longer, with the Q6 Sportback e-tron expected to arrive in the spring or summer of 2025. Official US pricing and EPA range estimates will be announced closer to the launch date.
