BMW

BMW used its social media channels to tease the upcoming BMW X5 series based on the brand-new Neue Klasse platform. The launch is due tomorrow, June 30.

Even though the teaser mentions only the X5, it's probably safe to assume that we will finally get to see the all-electric iX5. The vehicle was spotted in a camo wrap undergoing final testing before entering mass production at the South Carolina plant.

The full-sized SUV will feature a massive 144 kWh (for the US) and 141 kWh (for Europe) battery, making it the vehicle with the biggest battery in BMW's portfolio. A dual-motor setup will offer a peak output of 578 hp.

The insider info lately suggests that the Neue Klasse platform won't be used only for electric vehicles, but a modified version might carry BMW's ICE models as well. If that's true, it will explain why BMW is teasing the X5 series as a whole.

Speaking of the teaser, the post itself doesn't reveal much but hints at the front design, which isn't exactly surprising given BMW's recent design choices. The headlights are the ones that stand out, though, in the shape of a double X, which can also be interpreted as a "dead vehicle." It depends on whether you are chronically online or not.
