BYD

The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the photos and specification of Seagull, an electric city car manufactured by BYD. This city car is rumored to hit the market this year, with a price tag ranging from $8,860 to $14,770.

The Seagull is going to be the most compact car in the BYD Ocean series, which currently consists of four vehicles: the Seal, the Dolphin, the Destroyer 05, and the Frigate 07. These cars all share the same, as the company calls it, "Marine Aesthetics."

The BYD Seagull is a five-door, four-seater hatchback. Its design is characterized by sharp on all sides and it includes a roof spoiler, which is rather odd for a city car.

The rear door of the BYD Seagull features three different markings, including Seagull, Seagull Q and Seagull mini, suggesting the car will have at least three different versions.

The Seagull is 3,780mm long, 1,715mm wide and 1,540mm tall. It comes and comes with a 2,500mm wheelbase. It weighs from 1,160kg to 1,240 kgand comes with either 15" or 16" wheels.

According to the MIIT, the Seagull can be fitted with LED headlamps as an optional extra. It has a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery made by FinDreams, a subsidiary of BYD. Although its capacity is not included in the published documents, but local sources report it will have 30.7 kWh capacity. It will power a TZ180XSH motor rated at 55kW (75hp).

Also not included are photos of the interior, but previous leaks suggest it will be similar to the BYD Dolphin.

The Seagull will likely make its market debut in China soon. Since it's been featured in the MIIT announcement, BYD has clearly finalized design and is preparing to open sales to consumers.
