BYD has just published its sales figures for October, and they include quite the milestone. The company sold 305,743 battery electric passenger vehicles last month, up 37% compared to October 2025, marking the first time its monthly EV sales have crossed the 300,000 mark. It's also BYD's third record month for EV sales in a row.
To put that into perspective, Kelley Blue Book estimates that 262,649 EVs were sold in the US in the entire third quarter of this year. That was the US market's best quarter in a year, up 6.1% from Q2, but still down 39.5% from Q3 2025, when buyers rushed to grab the federal EV tax credit before it expired.
In October 2026, BYD achieved a total monthly sales of 490,168 New Energy Vehicles.
Together, we drive forward to a cleaner, brighter future!

Counting plug-in hybrids, BYD sold 490,168 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in October, up 11% year-over-year and its highest monthly total of 2026 so far. Plug-in hybrids alone went the other way, falling 17% to 177,382 units, so EVs made up about 63% of the company's passenger vehicle sales.
Exports keep growing too. BYD shipped 170,194 NEVs abroad last month, and its overseas passenger vehicle and pickup sales for the first ten months of the year reached 1,507,395 units. That means it has already passed the 1.5 million overseas sales target it set back in March, with two months to spare.
From January and through October, BYD's EV sales are up 5.86% compared to the same period last year, reaching 1,935,700 units. Its total NEV sales for the period are down 2.16% year-over-year, to 3,621,744 units, because of the drop in plug-in hybrids.
