Cadillac

GM is considering plans to return to Europe as an EV only manufacturer. Opel used to be the European brand of GM but after selling it to Stellantis, the American automaker was left with no presence apart from marginal sales of Chevy Corvette and few Cadillacs.

The CEO of GM, Mary Barra is very optimistic on reentering the European market, she says the plans for Cadillac to be an all-electric brand within the next few years align really well with European push for electrification of the industry. Cadillac Lyriq would be clearly the perfect model to return to Europe with and Barra says she is looking forward to that.

Good news all around for European customers, not only their governments are pushing for lower emission but the EV incentives are attracting manufacturers from all over the world, American brands never made a big dent in Europe - apart from Opel - but always had a faithful following and many people will be excited about possibility of Cadillac selling its electric vehicles officially rather than through private imports.

When you said that Opel sold well in Europe, that's mainly because it's from Germany originally (Founded by Adam Opel in 18xx if my memory is correct). Then bought by GM when they were in financial distress and then sold to Stellantis that ...
