Cadillac

Cadillac has been promising the Optiq for quite a while now - back in November it confirmed that it would become its cheapest EV. And at the beginning of this month, it got official - but only for the Chinese market.

That changes today. Cadillac has introduced the Optiq to the US market, where it will start at around $54,000 including destination charges, excluding tax, title, license, and dealer fees. The Optiq will eventually be offered in "over 10 regions" including Europe. Production is set to start "late this fall".

It will get Cadillac-estimated 300 miles of range from its 85 kWh usable capacity battery, and will have a dual-motor all wheel drive powertrain as standard.

This will develop 300 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. Fast charging will allow the addition of up to 79 miles in just 10 minutes. The car is 189.8 inches long, 83.7 inches wide with the mirrors included, 64.7 inches tall, and has a wheelbase of 116.3 inches. Its base curb weight is 5,192 lb.

The trunk capacity is 26.3 ft³ and can grow up to 56.6 ft³ with the second row of seats folded. The Optiq can tow trailers up to 1,499 lb.

John Roth, vice president of Global Cadillac, said:

Cadillac has always defined American luxury, and Optiq is an example of how our bold, innovative spirit is propelling us into the EV future. Over the past five years, Cadillac has welcomed approximately 1 million new customers to the family globally, while our percentage of younger buyers has increased 5% in the US Optiq will be an important gateway to attract luxury EV intenders to Cadillac as we look to offer a fully electric portfolio by the end of the decade.
