Cadillac Announcement

After a brief teaser in April, today Cadillac has finally fully unveiled the Optiq-V. It was promised to deliver an "exhilarating driving experience" and while we can't be sure of that without testing it, the numbers sure do look promising.

The Optiq-V has a dual-motor AWD powertrain developing 519 hp and 649 lb-ft of torque. The zero to 60 mph acceleration takes 3.5 seconds. The battery is 85 kWh net, and a 10-minute DC fast charge through its built-in NACS port will give you 70 miles of range. Speaking of which, Cadillac estimates a total range of 275 miles.

It's 189.8 inches long, 83.7 inches wide (with the mirrors included), 64.7 inches tall, and has a wheelbase of 116.3 inches. It weighs 5,445 lb. Wheels are 21" satin graphite alloy paired with low-profile tires, or you can get optional polished and painted wheels "in a dark sport finish" but the size is the same.

As standard you get a black painted roof and a panoramic fixed glass roof, and the Optiq-V also gets two new (compared to the non-V model) limited edition colors: Magnus Metal Frost (matte metallic gray with warm highlights), and Deep Ocean Tincoat (pictured in this article).

Inside, you can pick between Noir with Santorini Blue accents, or Noir and Sky Cool Gray with Santorini Blue accents. In case you've been wondering, Cadillac says "Santorini Blue evokes the energy, action, and excitement associated with innovation and high performance" since innovation and high performance are definitely the first things you think of when you read the word Santorini.

There's a 33-inch diagonal "advanced LED display" inside that probably isn't one actual display but a few of them right next to each other (we're betting on 3, but it's definitely at least 2), and a 19-speaker AKG audio system as standard.

You get Standard Super Cruise (is it standard or super - Cadillac can't decide) with three years of OnStar connected service, as well as adaptive cruise control, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Enhanced Automatic Parking, Forward Collision Alert, and so on. You also get Google Maps and Google Assistant built-in.

The price for all this is $68,795 including the destination freight charge, and excluding tax, title, license, and dealer fees. The Optiq-V will only be sold in the US, Canada, Mexico, the Middle East, and Israel. Production will start this fall.
