NIO

During the official launch of Nio ES7 last week, the company confirmed that the orders for the new ES8, ES6 will begin shortly. Today is the day - orders for new electric cars went live this morning. New configurator on the Nio’s app is already letting customize all three new models.

The official pricing info is out as well and so the 2022 Nio ES6 will start at RMB386,000 ($57,780), the Nio EC6 will start at RMB396,000 ($59,200) and the Nio ES8 will start at RMB496,000 ($74,160). All cars will come with a choice of either 75kWh or 100kWh battery pack and will run Nio’s latest Alder hardware and software that allows for OTA system upgrades.

The prices above are before any government or local subsidies - in China there is a grant available for NEV (New Energy Vehicle) buyers if the price of the car is lower than RMB300,000. Interestingly enough Nio is exempt from this rule because all its models come with swappable battery packs. It means a discount of RMB11,340 ($1,700)for the cars with 75kWh battery and RMB12,600 ($1,900) for cars with the 100kWH battery. The Chinese government has announced that 2022 is the last year of any subsidies for NEVs.

Nio offers the option of BaaS - Battery as a service - which lowers the price of purchase but comes with monthly battery rental fees. For the cars with 75kWh the starting price is lowered by RMB70,000 ($10,460) and the monthly fee is RMB980 ($146.50). The cars with 100kWh have a reduction of RMB128,000 ($19,168) in exchange for a monthly rental of RMB1,680 ($250).

Now that is a comprehensive list of warranties and services that show Nio is a very confident automaker who believes in its product and understands how to attract and retain customers.
