Tesla

In a short X post, Elon Musk announced his departure from DOGE and thanked Donald Trump for the opportunity to "reduce wasteful spending". Earlier this week, Musk said he will focus more on his businesses, namely SpaceX, Tesla and xAI.

As a "special government employee", Musk was supposed to work for the new administration for 130 days, which run out at the end of this month.

However, during a Tesla earnings call in April, Musk said that even though his time with DOGE is almost over and he will focus more on Tesla, he will still be doing government work once or twice a week until the end of Trump's term. He also plans to keep his small office at the White House.

For investors' sake, we hope Musk turns things around as the company faces trouble all across the globe.

Two observations: 1) The reputational damage he's inflicted on himself, and by association the company, isn't going to go away quickly. Carrying on doing unspecified "government work" once or twice a week will probably ensure...
