BYD

BYD has just teased two new additions to its lineup: the Tang L SUV and the Han L sedan. These models promise enhanced intelligent driving capabilities, thanks to the inclusion of LiDAR technology. This is a big step for BYD, as LiDAR is not currently featured on any existing Tang or Han models.

Details are still scarce, but the teaser images released by BYD show sleek and modern design, with the LiDAR sensor prominently positioned at the top of the windshield. This sensor is responsible for producing a highly accurate 3D map of the vehicle's surroundings.

The Tang and Han are flagship models in BYD's Dynasty lineup. The Tang is a mid-to-large-size SUV, while the Han is a mid-to-large-size sedan. Both model families offer hybrid (DM-i and DM-p) and pure electric variants.

The current 2025 Tang DM-i is a seven-seater SUV. It measures 191.7 inches in length, 76.8 inches in width, and 67.9 inches in height, with a wheelbase of 111 inches. The cheapest hybrid version starts at RMB 179,800 ($24,600). The 2025 Han DM-i measures 196.7 inches in length, 75.2 inches in width, and 58.9 inches in height, with a wheelbase of 115 inches. The hybrid versions start at RMB 165,800, while the 2025 Han EV starts at RMB 179,800 ($24,600).

BYD has not yet revealed the specifications or pricing for the Tang L and Han L. They are expected to be more expensive than their counterparts in the current lineup, since they are positioned as premium models with advanced technology

The introduction of the Tang L and Han L comes at a time when competition in China's EV market is heating up. BYD has been a dominant player in this market, with impressive sales figures in recent years. In 2024, the company sold a total of 4,272,145 NEVs, including 153,365 units of the Tang family and 258,452 units of the Han family.
