Lucid

The California-based electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid Motors has achieved a significant milestone in the development of its highly anticipated Gravity SUV. The company's CEO, Peter Rawlinson, shared a video on LinkedIn showing the first pre-production Gravity model as it emerged from the paint shop at Lucid's Casa Grande, Arizona factory.

Finished in a sleek Infinite Black paint, the pre-production Gravity offers an exciting preview of the SUV's final design. While Lucid has not yet announced an official production date, Rawlinson's LinkedIn post suggests that the company is well on its way to delivering the Gravity to waiting customers.

The pre-production phase plays a pivotal role in refining the manufacturing process and ensuring that Gravity meets Lucid's stringent quality standards. "Each unit will help us perfect the process and will be used for final validation testing to ensure top-tier build quality in full-scale production," stated Rawlinson.

Unveiled in 2023, the Gravity represents Lucid's bold entry into the fiercely competitive electric SUV market. Designed to challenge established rivals like the Tesla Model X and Rivian R1S, the Gravity promises an impressive combination of performance, range, and luxury. Lucid claims the SUV will offer over 440 miles of range and a starting price below $80,000, making it an attractive proposition for EV buyers.

Lucid has already put the Gravity through its paces, subjecting it to rigorous cold-weather testing in Alaska to evaluate its traction control, stability control, and braking systems. The company aims to deliver sports sedan-like handling in an SUV package, setting high expectations for the Gravity's driving dynamics.

With production expected to commence later this year, customers could potentially take delivery of their Lucid Gravity SUVs before the end of 2024. In the meantime, Lucid continues to refine its existing lineup, recently updating the Air sedan for the 2025 model year with enhanced features and improved efficiency.

Prettiest SUV ev yet. However if something does go wrong with or or even for routine maintenance driving so far and in DC traffic makes it unappealing. Maybe if Lucid gets more places that know how to work on the Lucid I will consider getting one.
