Galaxy Geely

Geely has unveiled its latest offering, the compact Galaxy E5 SUV. Set to challenge the likes of VW ID.4 and Tesla Model Y, the E5 boasts competitive pricing that could make it a major EV contender, at least in China.

The Galaxy E5 boasts sharp styling with narrow headlights and a closed-off grille. The SUV's measures (181.7 inches long, 74.8 inches wide, and 65.7 inches tall.

Inside the E5, styling is pretty minimalist with a dashboard is dominated by a large, tablet-style infotainment center and a digital instrument cluster. A head-up display keeps critical information at eye level, while physical climate controls and a unique rotary dial offer extra convenience. Heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats promise a more comfortable ride.

The Galaxy E5 is based on the Geely Electric Architecture (GEA) and will have a version with one 160 kW electric motor (around 218 horsepower) coupled with an LFP battery pack. The EREV version is coming later with the latest Shendun battery tech and is tipped to go 1,240 miles on a full tank of gas.

Geely aims to bring the Galaxy E5 to market at a competitive price point, estimated at RMB 150,000 – RMB 200,000 ($20,800 – $27,700). With plans for production in both left-hand and right-hand drive versions, Geely clearly has global ambitions for the E5.
