Kia EV9 GT's interior revealed

Kia

Kia is gearing up to unleash its latest creation - the EV9 GT. This high-performance electric SUV is set to hit the streets in January 2025, and today, we got a sneak peek into its interior. Recent footage from HealerTV reveals the EV9 GT's new sports seats, upholstered in suede and other premium materials. While not as "spicy" as Hyundai's N EVs, the EV9 GT promises an exciting drive that's also suitable for everyday use.

Kia EV9 is the brand's first three-row electric SUV, launched in Korea last summer and introduced to the US market in December 2023. The EV9 has already significantly contributed to Kia's record-breaking US sales in July and August, with 13,874 units sold through August.

The EV9 GT is expected to borrow design elements from the recently revealed EV6 refresh, sporting a more sculpted front and rear for improved aerodynamics. It will also share the same 576 hp dual motor powertrain as the EV6 GT, Kia's most powerful vehicle to date. According to Kia's CEO, that powertrain will be capable of propelling the substantial SUV from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 3.4 seconds.

Priced above the EV9 GT-Line's starting point of $73,900 in the US, the EV9 GT is estimated to cost around $80,000. However, it still undercuts competitors like the 2025 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, which is priced significantly higher and boasts a slightly slower 0 to 62 mph time of 3.5 seconds.

Kia's sales are surging, setting another US record in August, fueled by growing demand for SUVs and EVs, particularly the EV9. The addition of the EV9 boosted Kia's EV sales by 27% year-over-year. While sales of the EV6, Kia's first dedicated electric car, dipped in August, they are still up 13% year-to-date. The dip coincides with the EV6's upcoming refresh, which promises a sleeker design and extended range thanks to a larger, more efficient battery.

Kia's strategic decisions, including the domestic production of the EV9 at its West Point, GA plant, position the brand to capture a larger share of the EV market, especially as US automakers like Ford and GM delay major EV initiatives. With the EV9 GT on the horizon, Kia's momentum in the EV space shows no signs of slowing down.
