Kia teases triple EV reveal: EV2, EV4 and PV5

Kia

Kia is gearing up for a major electric vehicle showcase in Tarragona, Spain, on February 27. The automaker plans to unveil not one, but three new electric cars, a significant expansion of its EV lineup. The upcoming "EV Day" will feature the production-ready EV4 sedan and hatchback, the innovative PV5 electric van, and the EV2 concept, a compact electric crossover.

The EV4 has been the subject of much speculation, with spy photos and concept previews hinting at its futuristic design. Kia's "Opposites United" design philosophy, also seen in the EV6, is expected to carry over to the EV4's styling. Official specifications are yet to be released, but the EV4 will likely feature the two battery options from the EV3: 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh. The power will come from a front-mounted motor producing 201 horsepower (150 kW) and 209 lb-ft of torque.

Alongside the EV4, Kia will also present the production version of the PV5 electric van. Previewed by a concept vehicle of the same name, the PV5 will be joining an increasing number of electric vans for both commercial and personal use. Its flexible interior layout will certainly be a key selling point.

The EV2 concept rounds up the trio of EV debuts. This compact electric crossover seems to be Kia's answer to the demand for smaller, more affordable EVs. Teaser images and videos reveal some clues about its design. The EV2 sports plastic body cladding and faux skid plates suggest a rugged, adventurous character. Distinctive three-dimensional taillights and a contrasting black roof add to its visual appeal. The teaser video also reveals a stylish front end with vertical lights and muscular accents.

Kia is preparing for Spanish extravaganza with triple EV reveal

Choosing Spain to unveil the EV4, PV5, and EV2 signals Kia's renewed focus on the European market. With the US market turning increasingly uncertain, the Korean automaker is not wasting time and is pivoting its efforts in order to shield itself from the upcoming storm. The event will be a good platform for Kia to showcase its latest technologies, design innovations, and its vision for the future of electric mobility.
