Leapmotor to unveil new compact hatchback in a week as it hits record sales

Leapmotor will debut a new model at the Munich auto show in Germany on September 8. This is called Lafa 5, and will be a compact hatchback. No other details about it are known so far.

The brand has in the meantime achieved a fourth consecutive record-breaking month for deliveries, with 57,066 vehicles delivered in August for a January to August total of 328,859 (representing 136.43% growth compared to last year).

It's the second time when Leapmotor's deliveries cross the 50,000 threshold. The August number is 13.84% higher than July's and 88.31% higher than in August 2024.

With a net income of CNY 30 million (approximately $4.21 million), Leapmotor is the second Chinese car maker after Li Auto to turn a profit after six months of this year.
