Li Auto

Chinese electric vehicle maker Li Auto rolled out updated versions of its popular L-series of SUVs. The refreshed versions improved driver assistance, refreshed interior and design. Despite these upgrades, Li Auto has maintained the original pricing for all variants. The updated models are now on display in Li Auto showrooms across China, with deliveries scheduled to start as early as next week.

The Li L6 continues to be available in Pro and Max trims, priced at approximately $34,530 (RMB 249,800) and $38,670 (RMB 279,800) respectively. The Li L7 offers three options: Pro, Max, and Ultra, with starting prices of around $41,790 (RMB 301,800), $45,690 (RMB 329,800), and $49,800 (RMB 359,800).

Similarly, the Li L8 is also offered in Pro, Max, and Ultra versions, priced from about $44,030 (RMB 321,800), $48,130 (RMB 349,800), and $52,230 (RMB 379,800). The flagship Li L9 is available in Pro and Ultra trims, with starting prices of roughly $56,640 (RMB 409,800) and $60,740 (RMB 439,800).

A big upgrade across the updated L-series is the LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology now coming as a standard. The new ATL LiDAR, sourced from Hesai Technology, is reported to be considerably smaller – about 60 percent – while offering an extended maximum detection range of 200 meters.

The Pro variants of the L-series EVs are equipped with Horizon Robotics' Journey 6M smart driving chip. The Max and Ultra variants, on the other hand, use the more powerful Nvidia Thor chip, suggesting even more sophisticated autonomous driving functionalities.

Beyond the L-series SUVs, Li Auto also markets the Li Mega, an electric MPV. The company recently launched an updated Li Mega Ultra at the Shanghai auto show in April, priced at approximately $73,140 (RMB 529,800), maintaining the price of its predecessor. Additionally, a new special edition, the Li Mega Home, was introduced with a starting price of around $77,240 (RMB 559,800).

Li Auto is off to a good start this year, with 33,939 vehicles delivered in April. That's a substantial 31.6% increase compared to the same month last year, although 7.5% lower than the 36,674 vehicles delivered in March. For the year to date, Li Auto has delivered a total of 126,803 electric cars, showing a 19.4% growth compared to the same period last year.
