Mercedes introduces AMG EQE 43 and EQE 53 with 4MATIC

Mercedes-AMG introduced another fully-electric AMG car based on the luxury sedan Mercedes EQE but it's tuned for better performance and adopts a slightly more aggressive design. Although, there are no dramatic changes to the latter.

The new Mercedes-AMG EQE comes in two options EQE 43 and EQE 53, both with the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. However, only the EQE 53 offers 4MATIC+ and can be configured with the AMG Dynamic Plus Package. The latter allows a Boost mode that bumps up the standard 626hp output on the EQE 53 to 687hp and the torque to 1000Nm from 950Nm for a short period of time. This translates into 0-100 km/h in 3.3 sec instead of 3.5 sec.

This is all thanks to the two fine-tuned by AMG electric motors on the front and back wheels and the big 90.6 kWh battery. Here's a comparison table between the EQE 43 and EQE 53 variants.

The so-called AMG Ride Control+ system is available to both variants, though. The improvements to the four-link front and the multi-link rear suspensions make them more rigid and allow for better handling thanks to the stiffer bearings and the lower clearance. The adaptive dampers feature two pressure-limiting valves so they can be more precise compared to the standard EQE.

Additionally, AMG has worked towards improving the downforce and overall aerodynamics. The changes have contributed to the overall energy consumption as well. However, that's not enough to achieve the same 660km autonomy as the standard EQE. So the advertised range of the AMG EQE is 447km to 518km. The fast charging solution gets about 180km worth of range in just 15 minutes.

Another standout feature of the duo is the AMG Dynamic Select drive system. Depending on the EQE configuration, the system limits the total output in some scenarios such as Slippery road conditions or when Comfort is a priority.

Unfortunately, Mercedes hasn't disclosed pricing and availability but we expect it to arrive in all major markets.

This car looks hideous in photos, but is actually quite nice in person. I like the changes they've done to the front grille.
