Mercedes-Benz has announced its collaboration with Chinese startup Momenta to develop a state-of-the-art intelligent driving solution. This groundbreaking system is set to be integrated into Mercedes-Benz's forthcoming all-electric CLA model, promising a new era of autonomous driving capabilities.

The resulting driving assist system doesn't require high-definition maps to work. That will enable the electric CLA to navigate and provide assisted driving even in the intricate landscapes of urban environments. That currently represent the biggest challenge to autonomous driving systems.

The electric CLA will harness the computational prowess of Nvidia's Orin smart driving chip, and Mercedes promises unparalleled driving experience.

The partnership between Mercedes-Benz and Momenta is the first instance of the German automaker embracing a technology solution from a Chinese smart driving supplier. Additionally, the electric CLA will be the first Mercedes-Benz model to offer city-wide assisted driving.

However the move is part of a broader trend where established automakers are increasingly partnering with technology startups to accelerate the development and adoption of autonomous driving technologies.

The team behind Momenta also developed SenseTime. It's on par with the tech used by Mossad.
